Sony HDR-CX115

SONY HDR-CX115

The recording equipment I will be using for
my music video is the Sony HDR-CX115 Camera. This is a solid-state HD camera that requires a memory card input to record. It can output 50 frame per second 1080i. There are many pros and cons of using this camera:

Pros:
- it is small and convenient to carry
- it is very simple to operate
- it is easy to upload to MACs
- it has an i-Auto (an automatic setting allowing the best possible picture within the given situation.

Cons:
- there is no 1080p
- the manual control of the focus and zoom and sometimes be difficult to handle.

To practice using this camera, in class we all done a test on the camera on how to perform and pull focus technique using toys and the manual spot focus setting. However, the pull focus could have had a greater effect if it was speeded up by a substantial amount. Then, we all has a play around with the 'Telemacro' feature. This give an extreme close up to objects up to 30cm away. By moving the objects backwards and forwards this then moves then in and out of the cameras focus:

These techniques and features would be very useful when trying to replicate a music video such as 'Into The Flames' performed by Jonah X.
