Attached to this blog post is a powerpoint analysing the music video for 'Who You Are' performed by Jessie J. The music video was released in 2011.
Overall, this song is one of Jessie J’s most serious songs and she has accompanied it with a serious video. Although there is only a few shots within this music video, the mise en scene and Jessie J’s character makes the video interesting. By using a simple location they have enabled themselves to make sure that the audience is always focusing on Jessie J. It is also effective when the heavy weather begins because they are using the same shot types so we are able to see the amount of damage that it is actually doing. As far as the lyrics go, I believe that this music video is representing Jessie J and what she believes in very well. The fact that she can sit head on in front of a camera (like her old YouTube video) for nearly the whole song and is still an interesting music video, it shows that her lyrics are powerful within themselves.
